Japan's Economy
Japan is the eighth country in the competitiveness ranking of the World Economic Forum. It is the 3rd largest economy in the world, second only to China and the U.S.
The main economic activities in Japan are in industry, commerce, finance, agriculture, and have a modern economic structure.
Moving between the islands of Hokkaido, it is covered with taiga, coniferous forest (pine) Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu, as exhibiting a wide tropical vegetation, that allow a wide use of wood, which are widely used for ship building.
The state has no direct involvement in economic activities.
The rice crop (rice cultivation) was one of the main economic activity until the mid-nineteenth century, which guaranteed a market.
Japan is part of an international treaty called APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation), which aims to turn the Pacific into a free trade area and includes Asian economies, American and Oceania.
